Crispy on the outside, warm and cinnamon-sweet on the inside — Apple Pie Egg Rolls are the ultimate mash-up of two favorites: classic American apple pie and golden fried egg rolls. They’re the perfect handheld dessert for fall gatherings, holiday parties, or just when you’re craving something comforting with a twist.
Best of all? They’re simple to make and taste incredible served warm with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
4 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced
½ cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground allspice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
12 egg roll wrappers
Oil, for frying
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Directions
Step 1 – Make the Apple Filling
In a bowl, combine diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and flour. Mix until the apples are evenly coated and slightly juicy.
Step 2 – Assemble the Egg Rolls
Place an egg roll wrapper diagonally on a clean surface. Add a spoonful of apple filling to the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, tuck it slightly underneath, then fold in the sides. Roll tightly and seal the edge with a little water. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
Step 3 – Fry to Perfection
Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in small batches for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
Step 4 – Serve & Enjoy
Dust warm egg rolls with powdered sugar. Serve as is, or pair with vanilla ice cream, caramel drizzle, or even a cream cheese dip for extra indulgence.
Tips & Variations
Shortcut: Use canned apple pie filling for an even quicker prep.
Baked Version: Brush with melted butter and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden.
Caramel Twist: Add a spoonful of caramel sauce inside the wrapper before rolling.
Make Ahead: Assemble egg rolls and refrigerate (uncooked) up to 24 hours in advance. Fry just before serving
